You sketch next year teams, assign a coach to each and place players as candidates. None of it touches the current season until you activate the plan.
Planning is not executing
The whole plan lives apart until you activate it. You can move a player between planned teams twenty times without her record, her statistics or her call-ups noticing.

Activating creates the real teams
Once the plan is closed you activate it and the real teams are created in one go. Deleting a planned team never deletes the real team that already existed.
Each coach sees their own
The coach assigned to a planned team can view it read-only, without seeing the rest of the club plan. Coordination decides, the coach prepares.
